Mini-Pony "B"

After long hours and many nights of practices the Mini Pony “B” team was ready to get their season started by playing against Gamber.  The Warriors were all fired up and ready to play.

The Warriors started the first half of the game on defense giving Gamber the ball first.  The first play of the game Gamber ended up scoring a TD with a nice long 40 yard run.  However this did break the Warriors spirit as Josh DeRocher # 5 stopped Gamber in its track for the next play with a nice hard tackle.  Gamber had a few more plays to run which resulted in 3 more touchdown’s making the score 4-0.  Now it was time for the Warriors offense to show off some of their fancy moves.  Good runs by Jonathan Grimm # 36, Noah Lightner # 20, and TJ Kalagher # 6 put the ball closer to the end zone.  However a pass by DeRocher # 5 to Kalagher # 6 just fell incomplete.  The Warrior team was not about to give up.  Riley Martin # 12, Garrett Shoemaker # 51 both had awesome runs.  When Seth Poffenberger # 78 got his turn with the football, he ran a 35 yard TD run showing off his impressive moves.  This put the Warriors on the scoreboard.  The score at halftime was Gamber 4 Warriors 1.

The second half started with the Warriors back on defense.  Gamber was able to score one more TD however; good tackles by Ryan Van Fleet # 35, Liam Luzier # 40, Zackary Johnson # 27, and Chase Dorsey # 13 was all the Warriors would allow.  It was time once more for the Warriors at offense.  Jonathan Grimm # 36 and Noah Lightner # 20 each had good runs.  Good blocking by the offense helped Travis Kalagher # 6 show off his moves and break away from the field as he ran for a 35 yard TD.  The next play was to Seth Poffenberger # 78 who ran the ball 40 yards for his 2nd TD of the game.  The Warriors were all pumped up and ready to go.  Trey Smith # 88 was able to show off his impressive moves as he ran the ball for 20 yards putting the Warrior team back in scoring position.  Seth Poffenberger # 78 was given the ball again but fell short of a TD.  When Gamber got the ball back for offense the Warrior team did not let Gamber score.  The Warrior team had one last shot at offense.  Josh DeRocher # 5 faked pitch the ball and ran to the outside giving the Warriors a few yards.  DeRocher # 5 then passed the ball to Kalagher # 6 but the ball was intercepted.  For the final play of the game Kalagher # 6 would prove to Gamber that he meant business as he ran the ball to the outside for a 40 yard TD.  However the Warriors still fell short their first week with a 5-4 loss against Gamber.

Pony A

The season kicked of on a hot and sunny afternoon as captains Brent Leone, Dillon Bodenheimer, Alex Wetzel and Tanner Johnson walked out to mid-field for the coin toss. Advantage went to the Gamber Mustangs and they elected to receive. At the kick, Cole Menas met the Mustang player on the 30-yard line and dropped him for no gain.

On the first possession from scrimmage, Gamber had problems with the snap and Matt Morgan alertly dove on the ball giving the Warriors possession on the 27.

On our first offensive play of the 08 season, Bent Leone stiff-armed his way to the 4-yard line. After trading a couple of off side penalties, Brent brought the ball into the end zone  for the 6-0 lead. The extra point was stopped and the kick off team lined up to send the ball back to the Mustangs.

Gamber received the kick off on the 31 to start the next set of downs. On their second play, they again fumbled giving the Warriors control of the first quarter of the game. The Mustangs began to tighten up their defense this possession and the Warriors found themselves facing a 4th and 11. Then Blake Dougherty hit Brent Leone on a swing pass. As Brent rounded the corner, Tanner Johnson put a crushing block on the defender opening the route for another Leone score. This time Dalton Stewart got in for the extra point bringing the game to 13-0.

Gamber tested the Warrior defense on the next possession by getting into the secondary three times. Luckily Boonsboro had Tanner Johnson on safety stopping the runners that were heading for the end zone.  The Mustangs tried their aerial skills and Dalton Stewart intercepted the pass on the Gamber 31.

The next possession had some good running efforts from Alex Wetzel, Blake Dougherty, and Brent Leone, but the Warriors fell short and the ball was turned over on downs.

The defense came back strong with Tim Bradshaw causing a 3rd and 16 from a tackle in the backfield. The Mustangs attempted the air a second time and a near sack by Tim Bradshaw led to a Tanner Johnson interception.

The next three series saw both sides giving the ball over on downs, ending the half.

The second half kick off was fielded by Blake Dougherty on the Warriors 40. On the first play of the possession, Blake passed to Brent Leone who took it 50 yards to the 6-yard line, stunning the Mustang D. Brent then ran in for the TD but was stopped on the extra point attempt, bringing the score to 19-0.

The next defensive stand held the Gamber offence to three short yardage plays and culminated with Matt Morgan and Tim Bradshaw teaming up on a sack.

The next two possessions were again a trade of ball control as each offense saw 4th and longs. This effort was helped greatly with Tim Bradshaw getting backfield penetration on multiple plays. However, before all was said and done, Gamber did find their way into the end zone bringing the score to 19-6.

After the proceeding kick off Gamber again went 4 and out. The Warriors now controlled the ball on the 40 where Dalton Stewart broke free in the open field. He felt the heat of three Mustangs on his heels and stretched out to get the ball across the line as he was being taken down, bringing the game to 25-6.

Gamber changed their strategy, attempting runs up the middle. The running back, attacking the line running head up, this all changed on the sixth attempt when Collin Reese gave him the “crack heard round the stadium”. On the proceeding play, Gamber fumbled and Brent Leone recovered giving the Warriors possession on the 44. Boonsboro, marched down field until Cole Menas stiff-armed his way in for a TD and Dalton Stewart added the extra point, bringing the score to a final of 32-6.

Pony B

It was a picture perfect day for football.  We won the toss and elected to receive.  Gamber kicks a 18 yarder to Duncan who returns the ball to the 48 yard line.  Smothers and Hardy have back to back 10yd plus carries.  Then, on just the third play of the game, it was Rogers on a ‘29 Toss’ from the 29 yardline that put us in the endzone for the first time.  Hardy punches in our Point After Touchdown on a Dive Left.  Score 7-0 Warriors.

Smothers boots a 20 yarder and Gamber signals fair-catch.  After one fumbled snap and a couple of great stops by Hardy and Rogers, Gamber finds themselves facing 4th and long.  Their tailback sweeps right while trailing a couple of lead blockers.  After they pick-up our corner and defensive end, he sprints toward the sideline before Krasny can make the touchdown-saving tackle on our 36.  Tribett, Riley, McClure and McClellan are all credited with tackles over the next couple plays until Gamber once again faces a 4th and long situation.  They attempt a deep pass over mid-field but it is overthrown.

Warriors take possession on their own 36ydl.  Rogers rushes for seven.  Then Hardy has a breakaway carry across midfield and down to Gamber’s 24ydl.  Then Moats turns a 2yd pass into a 18 yard gain.  This brings up 1st and goal on the 6ydl.  Hardy carries it in on a dive left behind McClure and Mason.  McClellan follows up with the QB keeper for the PAT.  14-0 Warriors

This time Smothers has his best kick of the day, a 27 yarder.  Gambers ball on their own 35ydl. On the first play of the series, Kingsbury reaches across two lineman to make a great stop at the line of scrimmage.  Gamber tries the middle twice again with no success.  Once again its 4th and long.  Gamber’s QB sweeps right, then crosses into Warrior territory and heads for the sideline.  Krasny speeds across mid-field to once again make a touchdown-saving stop.  1st and 10 on our 35.  Sharpless continues to reek havoc in Gamber’s backfield causing them to loose three yards in as many plays.  Their tailback tries the sweep-right again.  But Hardy sheds his blocker and hands Gamber a huge 12 yard loss.  Then a few unfortunate penalties against the Warrior Defense allows Gamber to maintain possession for a few more plays.  However by the end of the half, we are able to keep them under 65 total yards and they never got inside our 20 yardline.

Smothers starts the second half with an unreturned 18yd kick.  Rogers, McClellan and McClure all make great tackles, bringing-up 4th and 13.  An encroachment call against us gives Gamber a second attempt to convert.  It is  now 4th and 8.  Gamber throws an incomplete pass and turns over the ball on downs.

Now its our ball on their 47ydl.  The call looks to be 48 Sweep with Steve Duncan on the carry.  Everybody executes their part of the play perfectly and Duncan takes it all the way for our third touchdown of the day.  I’m telling you, that boys has wheels.  There wasn’t a defender withing 10 yards of him when he crossed the goal line.  McClellan runs the QB Keeper to the right but is stopped just short of earning us the extra point.  20-0 Warriors.

Smother’s fourth kick of the day is returned to the 46ydl.  At this point,  Gamber apparently decides to run exclusively off tackle.  Moats sheds his blocker and hands them a six yard loss for their troubles.  Rogers and Van both lead gang tackles bringing-up 4th and 5.  Gamber’s Fullback fumbles the hand-off, kicks the ball down field and somehow recovers it himself for a first down.  Thanks in part to tackles by Bowman, McClellan, Rogers, Moats and Bentley, over the next several plays, Gamber was only able to moved the ball another 13yds or so.  Gamber’s QB was probably relieved to see the clock finally run out on the half, because he could barely get out from under his Center before Sharpless was all over him.  The last three play of the game, Sharpless handed Gamber a loss of 4 yards, forced a fumbled exchange and pressured the QB into throwing an incomplete pass.

Well, we started this season the same way we ended it last year.... by whooping-up on Gamber.  Our superior conditioning and organization definitely showed.  Our lineman controlled the line of scrimmage on both sides of the ball the entire game.   Offensively we had a completely mistake-free game.  No Offsides, No Penalties, No Fumbles, No Punting and No Turnovers.  We racked-up180yds Rushing, 18yds Passing, 3 Touchdowns and 2/3 PATs.. We did give up 25 yards in penalties on defense, but we didn’t allow any points or passes.

Congratulations Coaches and Players on a Great Game.
Better bring it on FYSA, cause We Play Football in Boonsboro.

It was a great day for football.  The game started with a quick start for Gamber when they returned the opening kickoff for a touchdown.  Jumping ahead to a 6-0 lead.  Then extending their lead to 14-0 with another tochdown and a good extra point on thier following possession.

The Warriors got off to a good start with their offense moving the ball well.  Running backs Zach Poffenberger and Gunnar Whipp managed to maneuver well getting good field position, then quarterback Ryan Ruiz with a quarterback keeper ran it in for a touchdown.   Kicker Gerrick Allen narrowly missed the extra point kick, bringing the score to 14-6.  Afterwards Gamber managed to move past the defense two more times to score before the half with the score at 29-6 at halftime.

The second half the Warriors seemed to come alive.  Ruiz with a quick pass to Poffenberger,  Zach broke loose to score.  Gerrick Allen's extra point was right down the middle to boost the score to 29-14.  However, Gamber was fast to respond with a quick drive to score and a good extra point kick.

Boonsboro offense made it's was back down field for Poffenberger to score his third touchdown of the day. Allen's extra point kick was good.  Gamber scored two more touchdowns with one extra point kick.

The last play of the game was a kickoff to Boonsboro and Poffenberger returned for a touchdown as time ran out leaving the final score Gamber 50, Boonsboro 34.

This was a great start for Boonsboro.  Atleast half of these Gamber players were on the J.V. team that went to last years Superbowl against Brunswick.  Boonsboro's offensive line looked good with players Gerrick Allen, Alex Carlson, James Curry, Tyler Foster, and Cole Rippeon.  You can see they have been working hard.  Our defense seemed to struggle somewhat, but this being their first game they will only improve.

It was another hot, sunny afternoon as the Warriors were ready to take the field against the FYSA Titans.  The Warriors started the game on offense ready to show the Titans what they were made of.  To start the game off # 5 Josh DeRocher passed the ball to # 6 TJ Kalagher.  Kalagher was able to get a 20 yard gain for the Warriors getting them off to a good start.  For the next couple of plays the Warriors were able to gain a few more yards with a run up the middle by # 36 Jonathan Grimm, and a run made by # 20 Noah Lightner.  Another pitch to # 6 TJ Kalagher put the ball on the 5 yard line.  # 5 DeRocher made a handoff to # 6 Kalagher who faked out the Titans defense with a reverse scoring the first touchdown of the game.  # 13 Chase Dorsey and # 51 Garrett Shoemaker both had a 5 yard run each but the Warriors fell short of scoring another touchdown.  The Warriors were now on defense ready to show the Titans how strong their defensive line is.  The Titans were able to score a touchdown on their first play of the game tying the score 7-7.  # 5 DeRocher and # 36 Grimm each made hard tackles in two separate plays; however the Titans were able to get through the Warrior defense scoring again.  For the next play # 51 Shoemaker made a good open field tackle to stop the Titans offense.  The Titans however were able to score again making the score 21-7.

After halftime, the Warriors offense had some catching up to do.  The first play was a quarterback sneak by # 5 DeRocher.  # 5 DeRocher ran the ball for a 15 yard gain for the Warriors before he was taken down.  # 5 DeRocher then made a perfect pitch to # 6 Kalagher who ran the ball to the 1 yard line just shy of a touchdown.  For the next few plays # 36 Grimm, # 20 Lighnter, and # 5 DeRocher tried to get through the Titans defense but were not successful.  # 6 Kalagher was able to get the ball in the endzone thanks to another nice pitch from # 5 DeRocher and blocking from the offensive line.  This would be # 6 Kalagher’s second touchdown for the Warriors making the score 21-14.  For the last two plays for the Warrior offense # 27 Zackary Johnson and # 33 Trey Osborne each had a 10 yard run.  The Warriors now back on defense were making good team tackles stopping the Titans in their tracks.  The Titans unfortunately were able to score three more touchdowns against the Warriors making the score now 42-14.

The Warriors were trailing but it was their turn back on offense.  # 5 DeRocher made a pass to # 6 Kalagher but the pass fell incomplete.  # 36 Grimm then took a shot at the Titans defense with a run up the middle gaining 3 yards for the Warriors.  # 5 DeRocher then pitched the ball to # 6 Kalagher who ran the ball for a 37 yard touchdown making this Kalagher’s third touchdown of the game.  # 5 DeRocher and # 6 Kalagher were proving to the Titans that when these two work together they are a force to be reckoned with.  # 20 Noah Lightner ran the ball for a 10 yard gain, # 13 Chase Dorsey, # 88 Trey Smith, and # 27 Zackary Johnson also gained a few yards for the Warriors but fell short of a touchdown.  Back on defense, the Warriors were about to prove to the Titans they wouldn’t make it by them this time.  The defensive line was making good tackles driving the Titans backwards.  The Titans then fumbled the ball which was recovered by # 27 Johnson.  # 5 DeRocher also sacked the Titans quarterback.  As the end of the game approached the Warriors came up short of a win with the final score being 42-21.

The FYSA Titans rolled into town ready for a dogfight and that is exactly how Sunday’s game was played. From the opening kickoff, FYSA made it clear that they would use their size and speed to dominate the ground game. Marching down the field, they got into the secondary and were stopped from scoring multiple times by the Warriors safety, Tanner Johnson. However, with runs that deep, they were picking up first downs on their way to the end zone. Their drive was methodical and it ate up the first five and a half minutes of the quarter.

The first possession for the Warriors went a little quicker. The kickoff was fielded by Collin Reece on Boonsboro’s 46-yard line. On the first snap from scrimmage, Blake Dougherty ran 52 yards for the touch down. The stunned Titans quickly recovered as they blocked the point after attempt making the score 7-6.

The next series showed the Titans that the Warriors do not go away quietly. Brent Leone stripped the FYSA running back but they recovered bringing up a 2nd and 11. Dillon “D-Train” Bodenheimer and Matthew Morgan teamed up for a stop at the line. Then Alex Wetzel got to the Quarter Back forcing a 4th and 15. The Titans tested their air game but Tanner Johnson broke up the pass getting the ball back on downs.

After some “smash mouth” football, the Warriors also handed the ball back at the FYSA 48-yard line.

The next defensive series for the Warriors was much like the first with the Titans getting to the secondary and Tanner Johnson giving up the first downs but saving the touchdowns. Eventually FYSA completed their scoring drive and Boonsboro was facing a 13-6 deficit.

After Blake Dougherty fielded the kickoff on the Boonsboro 48, FYSA again stopped the Warrior attack and got the ball back after a 4th and 5 attempted couldn’t cross the marker.

The Titans started their next drive but with only 40 seconds left on the clock, going to the air was the only way to make anything happen. Tim Bradshaw made sure that this was not to be as he got into the backfield and chased the QB into throwing an incompletion.

The second half started with Dalton Stewart covering up the kickoff on the Boonsboro 38. This drive showed some promise with good efforts by Cole Menas, Alex Wetzel, Brent Leone, and Blake Dougherty. Luck even lent a hand as a fumble rolled across the first down marker and Tanner Johnson covered it up, keeping the drive alive. After crossing mid-field on a few more hard fought runs, the Warriors had to give the ball back to the Titans on their 48.

Although FYSA had the ball, lady luck stuck around a little longer as Brent Leone got into the backfield and stripped the running back for a Blake Dougherty fumble recovery on the FYSA 44.

However, as the day would have it, the advantage swung back to the Titans. First number 56 from the Titans dropped a sure interception, then FYSA recovered a fumble at mid-field.

Boonsboro was not able to establish any defensive stands after this and FYSA got into the end zone one more time, making the final 19-6.

The game started with Warriors receiving on the 30 yard.  From the beginning it looked like it was one of those pound and grind games for the Warriors.  The drive began with Gunnar Whipps strong running and Zach Poffenberger along the outside for good yardage.  The first drive stalled at the Titans 32 yd. line with a broken up incomplete pass from Quarterback Ryan Ruiz to Andrew Violet.

The Warriors defense showed much improvement from last week behind the strong frontline of Gerrick Allen, Tyler Foster, Sam Angle, Alex Carlson, Marshall Winegardner and Billy Halbritter. The game remained scoreless until the Titans scored with only 32 seconds left in the half.  The extra point attempt was no good and the game went into the half with the Warriors down 0-6.

The second half started with the Titans recovering a fumble on their 33 yard line after a strong drive by the Warriors offense.  The Titans were quick to score making the score 0-12 Titans.  The following kick return Marshall Winegardner had nice return to the 35 yard line.

The Warriors finally put points on the board in the fourth quarter with a great run by Poffenberger.  The extra point was no good.  Score 6-12 Titans.

The Titans received and returned the ball to the 42 yard line.  However, the Warriors Brad Hall was quick to recover the ball.  Then Whipp with a six yard run and QB Ruiz with a QB keeper to get the 1st down with only 1:06 left in the game.  With the ball on the 45 yd. line a Ruiz pass was intercepted but a penalty called for roughing the passer.  A 15 yd. penalty set the Titans coach off and he received aadditional 15 yd. penalty for unsportsmanlike conduct.  This gave the Warriors great field position and ultimately led to another touchdown by Poffenberger to tie the game 12-12 which sent the game into overtime.

The Warriors had first possession but were stopped at the 5 yd. line.  Then the Titans got a break when a penalty was called on the Warriors for to many men on the field.   With 1st and goal on the 5 yd. line the Titans scored to end the game Boonsboro 12 Titans 18. It was a tough break for the Warriors they had fought their way back and can be proud of their efforts.

Having opened the season with two lopsided victories over Gamber Smallwood 7 TDs to zero and FYSA 6 TDs to one, the warriors anticipated a much tougher test against the Knights of the Valley in Middletown. It did not happen. Outgaining the Knights 201 yds to
-1  yds, the Warriors scalped the previously unbeaten boys from Middletown 5 TDs to none.
Ben Burgan paced the outslaught with three TDs of 40, 31 and 3 yds. respectively, while the defense smothered any attempts by Middletown to score with the Knights longest gain being only six yards. Besides Burgan's heroics, the boys from the Boon also had TDs from Jay Sanon of 30 yds and 15 yds. Burgan finished with 114 yds on 12 carries and Sanon had 47 yds on 5 carries. Daemyon Garey chipped in 15 yds, Jermy Snow 12and Josh French 15.
The Knights were totally shutdown by Ryan Nikirk, Jake Feaster and Lawson Sauser in the middle and by Ben Burgan and Cameron Martin at LB. Martin had two fumble recoveries and Burgan one, while Nikirk and Feaster both had QB sacks. Tyree Jones and Jeremy Snow also chipped in with good assists.
Next up for the Warriors would be Brunswick. The Warriors record now stands at 3-0.

On Sunday, the Warriors packed their bags traveling to Middletown ready to play some football against the Middletown Knights.  The coaches, Coach Randy and Coach Bobby, had the boys geared up and ready to go.  The Warriors took the field ready to start on offense.  The first play of the day started when # 5 DeRocher made a handoff to # 6 Kalagher.  Kalagher ran a reverse play gaining 17 yards for the Warriors putting them almost halfway to the end zone.  The Knights however were able to stop the Warriors from gaining more yardages in their next few plays.  The Warriors were able to gain more yards in the next couple of plays with runs made by # 27 Zackary Johnson and # 12 Riley Martin.  A nice pass made from # 5 DeRocher to # 6 Kalagher fell incomplete however the play was called back due to holding by the Knights.  As the Warriors time on offense was starting to run out a 25 yard run by # 20 Noah Lightner put the Warriors on the scoreboard.  With two more plays left to run before switching to defense, two separate runs made by # 36 Grimm and # 5 DeRocher, gained about 10 yards but fell short of scoring again.  The score at the end of the first quarter was Warriors 7 and the Knights 0.

The Warriors, now on defense, were ready to show the Knights how tough their tribe is.  Good tackles made by # 5 DeRocher, # 36 Grimm, and # 27 Johnson stopped the Knights.  For the next play # 6 Kalagher and # 20 Lightner, working together, was able to make a good tackle to stop the Knights once again.  A nice hard tackle made by # 15 Hunter Tucker drove the Knights backwards in their own territory making them lose 10 yards.  The Knights were having a hard time making it through this powerful defense.  The defense was starting to look like a brick wall.  Nothing was able to get through them.  As the Knights tried once more # 5 DeRocher looked like a tiger that was on the prowl.  Just like a tiger, DeRocher, was hunting and sneaking up on his prey ready to attack.  DeRocher made two hard tackles in two consecutive plays bringing his opponent down.  The Warriors were making good stops and tackles however as time was running out for the Knights, they were able to score two touchdown’s making the score 14-7.

After the half the Warriors were back on offense.  For the start of the second half a handoff from # 5 DeRocher to # 6 Kalagher resulted in a 10 yard gain for the Warriors.  Grimm # 36 ran the ball up the middle, running all over and through his opponents, gained another 5 yards for his team.  A nice handoff from # 88 Smith to # 27 Johnson resulted in a 15 yard gain thanks to some nice moves by Johnson.  On a reverse play, # 6 “Fast as Lightening” Kalagher made a nice run down the left side of the field.  Kalagher was able to make it about 10 yards before being pushed out of bounds.  Kalagher was able to get the ball down to the 5 yard line for his team.  # 36 “The Bulldozer” Grimm bulldozed his way through the Knights gaining 2 more yards for the Warriors.  With two more plays, # 5 DeRocher and # 20 Lightner tried to get into the end zone but their attempts fell just short of a touchdown.  The score was still 14-7 in favor of the Knights.

For the last quarter of the game the Warriors were back on defense.  The defensive line was doing an outstanding job of blocking.  The Knights first play was a 40 yard touchdown run.  Good team tackles were being made by DeRocher, Johnson, Grimm, Lightner, and Kalagher.  Garrett Shoemaker # 51 made an impressive tackle by sacking the quarterback making the Knights lose 5 yards.  # 88 Smith also stopped the Knights as he made a hard tackle.  For the last play of the game, the Knights fumbled the ball which was recovered by # 21 Brock Kugler.  The Warriors came up short with a win with the final score being Warriors 7 Knights 21.

Hanna blew out and left a warm sunny day with a light breeze as captains Collin Reece, Cole Menas, Owen Glass and Cort Zang went out for the toss with the rest of the Warrior squad behind them in solidarity hoping to vindicate last week’s loss. Middletown won the toss and elected to receive. Number 30 of the Knights took the kick at the 35-yard line and ran it in for a touchdown.

After the Knights kicked back to Boonsboro, Blake Dougherty ran it back to the 50 giving the Warriors a decent field to start off. After two short runs by Blake Dougherty and Brent Leone, and a little help from a Middletown off-sides penalty. Brent Leone broke free for what would be the longest run for the day and brought the ball down to the 2 –yard line. Tanner Johnson tried for the extra point but was stopped short making the score 7-6.

It looked as if Boonsboro would control the day, on the next kickoff, Middletown fumbled and Dalton Stewart jumped on the ball at the Boonsboro 42. However, momentum quickly shifted after Brent Leone was sacked and an incomplete pass brought up a 4th and 16. A second incomplete pass turned the ball over on downs.

With five minutes of the first quarter already passed, the Warrior defense finally took to the field. They started off well with Alex Wetzel breaking into the backfield causing a 3- yard loss. Timothy Bradshaw stopped the running back at the line and Matthew Porterfield’s penetration brought up a 4th and 16, which the Knights could not convert.

The Warriors got the ball back but they had a quick 4 and out. The defense came back on the field and Dillon Bodenheimer stopped the runner after a 4-yard gain. Cole Menas and Tanner Johnson stopped their man at the line. A Knights offsides and Cort Zang stopping his man for no gain brought a 4th and 8 for Middletown. The running back broke through the center and was stopped by our safety, Bryce Rogers, inches from a first down.

With the ball back in Boonsboro’s hands, the Knights stepped it up a notch; they were beating the Warriors off the snap on nearly every play. Boonsboro went to the air when facing a fourth and long, but Middletown’s number 30 struck again, intercepting the ball and running it back for a touchdown. After the conversion the score was 14-6.

Again with the ball in Boonsboro’s hands, they faced a quick 4 and out. The Knights came back onto the field and quickly went to the air on a long pass bringing the ball down to the 5-yard line that they punched into the end zone three plays later. Again a successful conversion brought the score to 21-6 at the end of the first half.

The second half started off showing more promise with Dalton Stewart’s return back to the 50 –yard line. However, the Knights frustrated the offense again bringing a 4th and 25 after a Blake Dougherty sack. This time coach Menas called for a punt and Alex Wetzel kicked a beauty over the receivers head and rolling down to the Knights 20-yard line.

The Warriors were determined to keep the Knights contained this time. If they can force a 4 and out, they would have the ball in great field position and the clock was beginning to be an issue. Dillon Bodenheimer and Matthew Porterfield where in on the first tackle forcing a fumble that Middletown covered up but loosing 5 yards in the process. Scott May and Dillon Bodenheimer pushed back the center and consumed the quarterback for no gain on the second play. Blake Dougherty got the third bringing up a 4th and 6, then Cole Menus and Brent Leone were not fooled by the reverse, turning the ball over on down on the 30-yard line. However, the Knights defense would dominate the Warriors one last time ending the game at 21-6.

Our first away game of the year.  You know, last year we went undefeated on the road.   And you know something else?  Middletown ducked us on the Pumpkin Bowl - stood us up - and our boys haven’t forget that.  So, this year we’re TAKEN IT TO THEM.  After all, they got the perfect field to lose a home game on.

As Team Captain this week, Vann, Tribett and Pullaro won us the toss and elected to receive.  After the kickoff, our offense took possession on our own 40ydl.  McClellan pitches to Rogers who rolls out into the left flat and then just barely overthrows Smothers who was wide open 15 yards down field.  Smother and Hardy both get shut-down the next two plays brining up 4 and 12.  Rogers Sweeps left with Hardy as his lead blocker and picks up 13 yards for the 1st down.  Again we take to the air, but this time its complete to Moats for a gain of 5.  Smothers and Hardy proceed to pick another 1st down, then
McClellan advances all the way to the 15 ydl where he fumbles as a result of the gang tackle.  Middletown recovers it and its their ball on their own 15ydl.  Over the nest four plays, Riley, Kingsbury, and McClellan record solo tackles and the entire team stops the Knights in their tracks.   Talk about stepping it up when it really counts, way to go “D”.  Now its our ball on their 19 ydl.  They give up the first 5 yards in penalties and Hardy powered his way right up the middle for rest, earning us the 1st down.  Now its 1st and goal on the 8ydl.  Smothers picks up 4 yards, then McClellan gets 3 more.  Hardy lead blocks for Smothers as he forces his way into the endzone.  Touchdown Warriors !!!  For the PAT, McClellan rolls out to the left, throws a perfect pass to Hardy in the endzone, but he wasn’t able to bring it down.  Score: 6-0 Warriors.

Smothers kicksoff and Middletown covers the ball on their 46ydl.  Then it was four up and four down with gang tackles involving everyone wearing blue except the our cheerleaders... Krasny, McClellan, Mason, Sharpless, Kingsbury, Riley, McClure and Smothers were all in the action.  Facing 4th and 15 Middletown didn’t turn the ball over on downs.  No, we actually forced a fumble that Cline recovered thereby giving us even better field position.  Rogers picks up 9 yards right out of the gate but it all gets called back for a clipping penalty.  Now its 1st and 25 and we throw an incomplete pass.  Then Hardy and Smothers both pick up 12 yards each, leaving us just short of the 1st down.  Now its Middletown’s ball again and much of the same thing.  Except this time they end up facing 4 and 22 just as the half comes to a conclusion.

Smothers kicksoff the half with an unreturned 23 yarder.  This is when Middletown has their single largest offensive gain of the day - 5 yards - due to an encroachment call against the Warriors.  Then Sharpless, McClellan, Rogers and the rest of our defense freeze the Knights right there until they turn it over again on downs.  Unfortunately our offense isn’t able to due much better this series and we give the ball back to them basically where we got it.  Then Middletown fumbles it right back to us one play later.  Credit for this fumble recovery goes to Cline, which was his 2nd of the day!  Now, it’s the Warriors ball on the 43 ydl and this exact same back and forth turnover scenario replays itself once more but with Sharpless making the fumble recovery.  Now its our ball for a third time at the 43 ydl.  But this time we start picking up first downs.  First it was Duncan on a 12 yard carry, then Rogers for 11 more a few plays later.  We take the ball all the way as far as their 19 ydl before the games comes to a end.

This game was by no means the massacre we all would have hoped for, but a win is a win.  We did rack up 126 total yards despite our 10 yards in penalties and Middletown ended the day with negative total yardage not even counting their 10 yards in penalties.  We had twelve 1st downs and they were never able to convert even once.  We went 4 for 6 passing versus their 0 for 2.  We forced many of their six fumbles and came up with three of them.  AND Now we all know why they really didn’t want to place us at home.  Go Blue!

Warriors go to the line as defense to start the game against the Middletown Knights. The 1st play of the game Middletown fumbles the ball which resulted in a dead ball. Boonsboro #26 Kyle Bradshaw made a quick tackle on the next play. Warriors were for sure ready for the knights as # 25 Matt Kulikowski forces the knights out of bounds and # 27 Waylen Rhoderick makes a quick tackle. Back at the line #26 Kyle Bradshaw again makes a quick tackle. Knights gaining few yards at this point was forced out of bounds on the next two plays by #29 Jackson Reed and #17 Joseph Zabrucky. Warriors #17 Joseph Zabrucky ready at the line slips through the knights blockers and strips the ball to force a Middletown fumble. The next 2 plays as defense resulted in quick tackles by #4 Jared Snow and #12 Kevin Bradshaw.

Boonsboro offense was warmed up as they got to the line. 1st play #26 Kyle Bradshaw runs all the way for a Warrior touchdown. Next play #32 Donovan Kisner runs the ball to mid field setting up the next play for #8 Trey Cook who ran the ball in for a touchdown! Back at the line the Warriors were fired up. #12 Kevin Bradshaw runs all the way for another Warrior touchdown! #31 Wade Dillow attempted to hand the ball off but resulted in a fumble by the Warriors, but that wasn’t stopping them because the very next play Warriors #29 Jackson Reed ran the ball all the way for another terrific touchdown! The next 2 plays the ball was ran by #28 Dylan Elkins and #4 Jared Snow who ran the ball down field just before the end zone ending the half.

The Boonsboro Warriors were beyond fired up as they returned from half time. Starting out as defense Warriors had several quick tackles made by #12 Kevin Bradshaw and #28 Dylan Elkins .The next play Middletown slipped by the Warriors for their first touchdown of the game. Back at the line and last play as defense Boonsboro #12 Kevin Bradshaw made a great tackle.

Boonsboro back at the line of offense was ready. The ball was handed off to #44 Bryce Coulby who fumbled the ball then recovered it and tackled after few yards. #8 Trey Cook handed the ball off to #12 Kevin Bradshaw who ran the ball to mid field. The very next play the Knights slipped through the Warriors line and tackled #12 Kevin Bradshaw before he handed the ball off. This ended an awesome game played by the Boonsboro Warriors! Great game boys!

It was another hot, sunny afternoon as week 4 approached for the Warriors.  The Warriors with home field advantage were ready to play seeking revenge on the Knights after their loss from last week.  The Warriors started the game on offense with a pass from # 5 DeRocher to # 6 Kalagher.  # 6 Kalagher made a nice catch then ran the ball for 15 yards.  # 20 Lightner and # 36 Grimm tried to gain some yards for the Warriors but were stopped by the Knights.  The Warriors then ran a reverse play with # 5 DeRocher handing the ball of to # 6 Kalagher.  Kalagher was able to gain an additional 11 yards for his team getting the ball closer to the end zone.  For the next few plays # 27 Johnson and

# 78 Poffenberger each took a turn at running the ball gaining a few more yards.  As the ball was snapped, # 88 Smith faked out the Knights with a quarterback sneak resulting in another 10 yards for the Warriors.  With time running out and only 2 plays remaining # 5 DeRocher passed the ball to # 6 Kalagher which resulted in a 20 yard touchdown.  The Warriors now on the scoreboard were going to try to score again with a quarterback sneak from # 5 DeRocher.  DeRocher was able to run the ball for 10 yards before being stopped by the Knights.

With the Warriors now on defense, they were going to try their hardest to keep the Knights from scoring.  A good team tackle was made by # 36 Grimm and # 6 Kalagher.  As the Knights were trying their hardest to get through this Warrior defense they were stopped again by # 5 DeRocher and # 6 Kalagher.  The Knights were quickly realizing how tough it was going to be to get through this Warrior defense.  As the ball was snapped for the Knights, they didn’t have time to get the play off as # 51 Shoemaker sacked the quarterback.  For the next two plays the Knights were feeling the pressure as # 40 Liam Luzier and # 36 Grimm each sacked the quarterback in two back to back plays making the Knights lose yards.  # 40 Luzier, # 5 DeRocher, and # 6 Kalagher worked together to bring the ball carrier down stopping the Knights.  As the Knights only had two more chances to score they fumbled the ball which was recovered by the Warriors

# 25 Jacob Cowan.  For the last play # 21 Brock Kugler made a good open field tackle to stop the Knights from the scoring.

The Warriors now back on offense were pumped up and ready for more action.  A handoff from # 5 DeRocher to # 6 Kalagher who then handed the ball off to # 36 Grimm left the Knights confused and allowed Grimm to gain 10 yards for the Warriors.  The Warrior offense was running all over the Knights thanks to the nice blocking being done by the offensive line.  # 5 DeRocher ran the ball up the middle pushing his way through the defense.  Doing their best impression of Jason Campbell and Chris Cooley, # 5 DeRocher passed the ball to # 6 Kalagher, who faked out the Knights defense to score his second touchdown of the game.  # 88 Smith handed the ball off to # 5 DeRocher who gained 10 yards.  For the last play of the quarter a handoff to # 36 Grimm gained an additional 15 yards for the Warriors.

The Warriors were back on defense ready to stop the Knights once more.  The first play for the Knights was a fumble that was recovered by # 45 Joseph Brennan.  # 36 Grimm made his second sack of the game by sacking the quarterback driving the Knights back 7 yards.  # 88 Smith made an impressive open field tackle stopping the Knights.  The Warriors were doing a great job on defense.  Another fumble was made by the Knights this time recovered by # 40 Luzier.  # 6 Kalagher made a hard hit bringing his opponent down.  Once again the Warriors did not allow the Knights to score a touchdown.

Back on offense, a pass to # 20 Lightner fell incomplete but the Warriors would soon recover as # 20 Lightner, # 5 DeRocher, # 88 Smith, and # 78 Poffenberger each gaining some yards.  # 36 Grimm doing his impression of Clinton Portis ran the ball up the middle to gain 17 yards for the Warriors.  A handoff to # 27 Johnson resulted in a 35 yard touchdown as he pushed off his defenders and high stepped into the end zone.  # 5 DeRocher was able to run a reverse play gaining 15 yards.  # 5 DeRocher and # 6 Kalagher showed off their moves once more as a pass to Kalagher was caught but just shy of another touchdown.

For the last quarter, the defense would try their hardest to shut the Knights out.  # 36 made his 3rd quarterback sack of the game and # 6 made an unbelievable hard hit leaving his opponents stunned.  Great team tackles were being made by the Warrior defense.  For the last play of the game the Knights fumbled and the ball was recovered by # 65 Austin Dutrow.  The Warriors defense played hard and each of them looked like mini Shawn Taylor’s on the field.  The Warriors were able to shut out the Knights and won 21-0.

Well you can’t say that there weren’t any spirited fans at this game! However, that is as far as I am going to go, this is about the kids.

The game against the Frederick Cadets was a hot one with temperature in the mid-nineties as captains Alex Wetzel, Tanner Johnson, and Dalton Stewart came out for the coin toss. Frederick won and elected to receive. On the kick Frederick fumbled and Alex Wetzel covered up the ball giving Boonsboro good field position on the 45.

The Warrior offence began their march down the field with some good running by Brent Leone, Tanner Johnson, and Cole Menas. Blake Dougherty was also able to pull the Cadet defense off sides twice, helping the effort. The drive eventually made it all the way to the 12-yard line before it was stalled by the Frederick team who got the ball back after a 4th down conversion failed.

The Warrior defense came onto the field and was getting excellent penetrations against Frederick. On nearly every play, one or two Warriors were in the backfield but the Cadets were slipping out of tackles and turning busted plays into positive yards. However, after a couple of first downs Frederick attempted a pass that was picked off by Tanner Johnson on the 30-yard line.

On our first play of the drive, a fumble gave the ball back to Frederick.

The warrior defense retook the field. On the first play, Collin Reece blew through the line and got into the quarterbacks face forcing an incompletion. Cole Menas also got in on the action and facing a 4th and 8, the Cadets punted.

The Warriors had the ball back and a quick 4 and out turned the ball over at mid-field. Number 58 of the Cadets broke free and scored bringing the game to 14-0.  On the proceeding kick off, the ball got a big Frederick bounce to the 15 and Brent Leone ran it back to the 34. Brent Leone then got a strong run to the 50. On the next play, Dalton Stewart broke free, running up the left side 50yards for the TD. Brent Leone punched in the extra point closing the gap to one touchdown.

On the kick off, the Cadet player was heading for the end zone when Stephen Smothers caught up with him. However, Frederick had good field position on the 24-yard line.  Frederick was making minimal gains and on one play, Brent Leone just laid out the quarter back. However, on 4th down number 84 from Frederick broke free, bring the score to 21-7 at the half.

Boonsboro received the kick after the half and after a quick three and out, Alex Wetzel kicked a great punt down to the Cadet 30-yard line.

The defense took the field and on the first play, Owen Glass crushed the running back for a one-yard loss. This hit seamed to change the energy of the game. The Warriors started hitting and tackling. It was much different from the first half of missed tackles and opportunities. On the next play Alex Wetzel and about three others stopped their man. Then Cort Zang fired in causing a 4th and 25. On 4th down Timothy Bradshaw blocked the punt.

The energy continued with an offensive march down the field that ended with an unfortunate fumble. Frederick quickly capitalized on the opportunity but Dillon Bodenheimer stopped the extra point attempt, bringing the score to 27-7.

The one thing you can say about these Warrior Ponies is that they did not quit this game. Down three touchdowns only made them fight harder. After the kick off, Boonsboro struck fast with a Blake Dougherty to Dalton Stewart pass reception down to the 15-yard line. Alex Wetzel took it for two runs and into the end zone. Brent Leone gained the extra point for a 27-14 score.

The Warriors defense came back on the field fighting even harder. Tim Bradshaw chased down the quarterback for a 12-yard loss. Owen Glass stopped his man on the line and a holding penalty brought up a 3rd and forever. Alex Wetzel’s pursuit got his man way back behind the line and Frederick, facing a 4th and 50, punted to Blake Dougherty who ran it back for a touchdown. Brent Leone was stopped at the extra point attempt, bring the score to 27-20.

With less than four minutes left on the clock, Boonsboro needed to get the ball back and the defense was up for the challenge. It began with Tanner Johnson’s textbook tackle after only 2-yards gained. Then Brent Leone stopped his man bring up a 3rd and 8. Matthew Porterfield fired through the line for a 4th and 11 and Owen Glass forced the Cadets to turn the ball over.

Boonsboro now had the ball on their side of the field. A tripping penalty after a 10-yard Cole Menas reception brought the ball to the 30-yard line. Good efforts were made with runs by Tanner Johnson, Brent Leone, and Cole Menas but Boonsboro came up short on the 4th down conversion and had to turn the ball over. With 40 seconds left, Frederick ran out the clock.

This game was completely different from the first half to the second half. If Boonsboro had more clock, they would definitely have won.

It was a bright, cloudless Sunday morning in Boonsboro and what a day for a football game.  Our entire Warrior Pony Team stepped on to the field in a show of solidarity as Team Captains Krasny, Duncan and Kingsbury met mid-field for the coin toss.  Middletown won and elected to receive.
After a short kick by Smothers, Middletown’s Offense setup on our own 45 yardline.  After two fumbled snaps and a couple of great tackles by McClellan and Moats, we had them back across mid-field where we took over on downs.  McClellan runs the QB Keeper to the right and all the way down to Middletown’s 23 yardline.  Rogers and McClellan both picks up another 6 yards each, but not before we’re penalized for being offsides.  On 4th and 3, we are unable to convert and turn the ball over on downs.  1st and 10 Middletown on their own 17 yardline.  Here we start hitting them in pairs.  Tackles by McClellan/Smother, McClure/Sharpless, and Tribett/Rogers, all force Middletown to turn the ball over on downs.  1st and 10 Warriors on Middletown’s 22 yd line.  Hardy, Smother, and Rogers, all take their turn running the ball.  But the Middletown Defensive is simply getting way too much penetration into our backfield and we are unable to advance the ball even an inch.  On 4th down, McClellan drops back to pass, but is sacked for a huge loss.  Now its Middletown’s ball on their own 45 yd line.   After a fumbled snap and an incomplete pass, Moats and Huntsberry hand Middletown a 2 yard loss, bringing up 4 and 12.  They sweep right, bounce to the sideline, avoid a couple of arm tackles and score.  Smothers steps up to make the stop on the point after, but they both end up landing in the end-zone.  Score: 7-0 Middletown.  After a fair catch on the kick-off, our offense takes the field at the 45 yardline.  Duncan and McClellan are able to advance 7 yrds before we once again get hit with an offsides penalty.  This brings-up 3rd and 8.  McClellan pitches to Smothers who sweeps to the left.  Rogers lays a great block on the Middletown corner-back as Smothers sprints to the sideline and ultimately the end-zone. TOUCH DOWN WARRIORS!!!  Rogers high-steps the last five yards to avoid no less than three diving defenders to earn us the extra point.  Score: 7 All.

Middletown fails to return our kick-off and takes the ball at their own 48 yd line.  They immediately complete a pass and pick up the 1st down.  Once again we start hitting them in pairs and HARD. Thank you Smothers/McClellan, Rogers/Tribett and Sharpless/Moats.  This brings-up 4th and 30 and they turn the ball over on downs as the first half comes to a close.
They kick to us and Hardy returns it to our 40 yd line.  Rogers sweeps to the left and picks up three.  2 down and 7, Smothers runs off-tackle to the right.  He finds some day light and breaks to the outside.  He carries it well into Middletown territory and down to the their 37 yd line.  Unfortunately, the next series of downs is plagued with fumbled exchanges, penalties and an incomplete pass and after facing 4th and 20,  we are forced to turn the ball over.  Now its Middletown’s ball on the 50ydl.  After an offsides penalty, a sack by ‘TD’ Moats and again by Sharpless,  the Knights fumble the snap on 4th and 13.  Warrior’s ball on their own 49 ydl.  McClellan sets-up in the shotgun and Duncan picks up 4 yrds, then Duft for 3, and then McCellan for 2 more.  4th and 1 and Duncan sweeps right for a huge gain.  1st and 10, Warriors on the 32ydl.  McClellan, Hardy and Smothers team-up to covert twice more.  After two 0 yard gains and a fumbled snap, we face 4th and 10 at the 32 ydl.  Rogers takes the hand-off deep in the backfield on a reverse and Krasny puts a great Block on the DE, then Rogers cuts back, stops, slaps away two arm-tackles and out accelerates the rest of the defense to the corner of the end-zone.  TOUCHDOWN WARRIORS.  Our PAT is no good, but we lead 13 to 7.

On the kick-off, Smothers boots it 20 yards and makes his own stop on the Middletown 42ydl.  Summers, Moats and Smothers are all credited with solo tackles as the Knights face 4th and 6.  They run the ball right down the middle and manage to convert.  Now, Middletown starts to pick-up the pace with their no huddle offense while gaining 3-4 yards each play.   They march down field all the way to the 15 ydl with only 4 seconds left on the clock.  They scramble to get the play-off and then proceed to run it in for the game tying touchdown.  Now,  it all comes to down to the PAT and our boys realize it.  With an injured Warrior still making his way off field, the Knights snap the ball.  Their tailback follows two lead blockers right up the middle, but our defensive line surges and our boys deny Middletown the Win.  Final Score: 13 All.

What Great Contest.  This one was truly a good match-up, hard-fought until the bitter end and it definitely held every fan’s attention from start to finish.  Although I would say that the score board didn’t really reflect how well we performed.  After reviewing the tape several time, the Knights were definitely the benefactors of more then a few bad calls.  And on paper, we racked-up 159 total offensive yards to their 83 yards.  All in all, I’d call it a victory for us.  After all, we definitely showed-up, we were very physical, we didn’t tire or lose focus and as Coach Rod would say “we looked good.”

Sunday was another hot breezy day with Boonsboro hosting the Frederick Cadets.  The game started with Boonsboro’s William Halbritter receiving at the 20.  Boonsboro fought to move the ball but were unsuccessful before a fumble gave the Cadets great field advantage at the Boonsboro 18yd.line.  1st down Frederick moved the ball only 2 yds., but on the next drive got the 1st down at the 8  yard line, the play was stopped by Ian McMillen.  Frederick scored a touchdown and ran the extra point in for the score of 0-7.

The Warriors traveled to Brunswick on a beautiful Saturday afternoon and brought clouds of defeat to the always tough Railroaders. Having played to 0-0 standoff after the first series by both squads, Jeremy Snow's 15 YD. sprint on the first play in the Warriors second series was a preview of what was on tap for the Roaders. Three more plays and ben Burgan would find Daemyon Garey in the flat all alone and Garey  would then streak untouched to the endzone to put up the Warriors first visit to paydirt. Three plays later Cameron Martin rambled 40 yds for a second score. The defense buoyed by the two quick strikes then became stifling. The Roaders next 6 plays netted -13 yds and their series ended with -10 yd sack combo compliments of Ryan Nikirk and Lawson Sauser.
Daemyon Garey answered the bell quickly on the first play of the next series jetting down the sideline 40 yds and late catching yet another TDpass from Burgan for 15 yds to close out Boonsboro scoring for the afternoon. The Warriors then added the last derailments of the afternoon with Aaron Myers recovering a fumble on the Roaders last possession and the "Sack Pack" of Jake Feaster , Ryan Nikirk and Cameron Martin collaring the Roaders QB 4 times in their last six plays. Once again the defense was amazing allowing only 27 yds on the afternoon while the Boonsboro offense generated 221 yds.!
Daemyon Garey lead the yardage parade with 76 yds on 5 carries plus a TD reception, while Ben Burgan carried 5 times for 38 and threw a 15 yd Td pass. Cameron Martin added 52 yds. Defensively Ryan Nikirk had 3 sacks, Lawson saucer one, Jake Feaster 2 and fumbles were recovered by Daemyon Garey and Ben Burgan during a TD saving tackle on the five yard line to preserve the shutout. Next up will be Catoctin in Thurmont.

The Boonsboro Warriors were on the road this week traveling to Brunswick ready to take on the Brunswick Railroaders.  Coach Randy, Coach Bobby, and Coach Scott had the boys fired up ready for some action.  The Warriors were starting the game on offense.  The first play of the game was a perfect pass from # 5 DeRocher to # 6 Kalagher.  After the catch Kalagher ran the ball for 18 yards before being knocked out of bounds.  After that play # 5 DeRocher made a quarterback sneak on the right side for ten yards.  The Warriors then made an awesome play that resulted in # 5 DeRocher handing the ball off to # 6 Kalagher who then handed the ball of to # 36 Grimm gaining another 6 yards for the Warriors.  The Warrior offense was running all over the Railroaders thanks to the blocking being made by the offensive line.  The Warriors could smell the end zone as # 5 DeRocher made another pass to # 6 Kalagher who ran the ball into the end zone for a touchdown.  The Warriors were all pumped up and ready for more.  # 88 Smith handed the ball off to # 33 Trey Osborne however Osborne was stopped by the Railroaders.  # 12 Riley Martin made a 10 yard gain for the Warriors with a run up the middle.  # 6 Kalagher caught yet another pass made by # 5 DeRocher with resulted in a 15 yard run.  The Warriors had once last chance to try to score another touchdown before going on defense but were stopped short as # 20 Lightner ran the ball for 5 yards.

On defense, the Warriors made the Railroaders fumble the ball for the first play.  The fumble was recovered by # 36 Grimm.  As the ball was snapped, # 5 DeRocher sacked the quarterback driving the Railroaders back 5 yards.  Good stops were being made by    # 20 Lightner, # 36 Grimm and # 27 Johnson.  As the Railroaders were ready for the next play the quarterback stepped back to make a pass; however the pass was intercepted by   # 6 Kalagher. As Kalagher made the interception he then ran the ball back for a 25 yard run.  The Warriors defense was doing a great job at stopping the Railroaders.  Good blocking and team tackles were being made.  # 35 Van Fleet made a good tackle with the assistance of # 21 Kugler and # 14 Clark.  The last play for the Railroaders resulted in a 20 yard touchdown pass.  The score at halftime was tied 7-7.

After halftime the Warriors were back on offense.  # 5 DeRocher started the first play with a run up the left side gaining 8 yards for the Warriors.  A handoff then made to # 6 Kalagher resulted in 10 more yards, and another run by DeRocher up the middle gained another 7 yards for the Warriors.  The Warriors offense was doing an outstanding job of moving the ball up the field to their end zone.  A pass to Kalagher fell incomplete but Kalagher would soon recover from that play as he ran the ball for 5 yards.  A handoff to # 27 Johnson gained the Warriors another touchdown as he ran the ball for 15 yards.  This touchdown put the Warriors back in the lead 14-7.  Now it was up to the defense to keep the Railroaders from scoring.

The Warriors defense knew that they had to block hard if they wanted to have another win under their belt.  The first play the Railroaders were not able to move the ball very far as a good team tackle was made.  # 6 Kalagher with the assistance of # 36 Grimm, # 5 DeRocher, and # 20 Lightner made the tackle on the next play only allowing the Railroaders to gain 5 yards.  More good tackles were being made by # 45 Joseph Brennan, and # 15 Hunter Tucker.  This Warrior defense was showing the Railroaders how tough it was going to be to make it through them to score a touchdown.  The defensive line was also doing a great job at blocking.  The Railroaders fell short of getting a touchdown so the Warriors were able to bring the win home.  The final score was Warriors 14 Railroaders 7.

The game began with captains Scott May, Dalton Stewart, and Cameron McClellan going out to the 50 for the toss. The Warriors won the toss and Tanner Johnson accepted the kick off at the 43.

The first drive started off strong with runs from Tanner Johnson and Dalton Stewart. An off sides against the Railroaders also helped the effort. Blake Dougherty broke free for a first down helped out by a great Alex Wetzel block. Then a Boonsboro off sides, an incomplete pass, and a sack, turned the ball over to Brunswick.

The defense took the field and after trading offside penalties, the action got started. Boonsboro has some gang tackles that led to a 3rd and 17 but a Brunswick pass gave them a first down. The Railroaders started moving the ball down field with runs up the middle. Tackles led by Timothy Bradshaw and Alex Wetzel slowed the effort but couldn’t stop it. Successive penalties against Brunswick had them facing a 2nd and 20 so they went to the air, Cole Menas read the play and intercepted the pass giving the Warriors the ball on the Brunswick 18-yard line.

The Warriors next possession went four and out deep in Brunswick territory.

Brunswick came back on the field switching their offense to a solid line with three backs. They used this formation to pound Boonsboro up the middle or to the left side for an average of nine yards per carry. The continuous march with Justin Walls carrying the ball moved down field to a touchdown.

Brunswick kicked the ball back to Boonsboro and Cole Menas’ strong run-back brought it to the Warrior 44-yard line. Boonsboro had a couple of good plays running the ball but a fumble gave it back. With seconds left on the clock, the half ended.

After the half, Brunswick received the kick. The defense came on the field with new life. The tackling was led by Dillon Bodenheimer and after forcing Brunswick into a 4th and 15, they punted. The punt bounced off the Brunswick player and Dillon Bodenheimer jumped on the ball.

The offense came back on the field and moved the ball with little success forcing the Warriors to punt. Alex Wetzel kicked a boomer that rolled to the Railroader’s 10-yard line.

Again the defense stepped up their game. Dillon Bodenheimer was leading the charge but this time he had help with some gang tackles by Glass & Porterfield, then McClellan & Glass. With Brunswick facing a 4th and long, they attempted a pass that was intercepted by Blake Dougherty.

Boonsboro had a chance to tie the game with 2:45 left on the clock. They moved the ball well until a bad-clipping call brought the ball back to mid-field. Two plays later Boonsboro fumbled and Brunswick recovered running out the clock to end the game 7-0 Brunswick.

Boonsboro’s Ryan Ruiz returned to their own 30.  The offense at fourth down punted  to Brunswick and in two plays Brunswick was able to score.  The extra points kick was good. Score 24-0. Kicker Gerick Allen’s kick was good.  Score 32-8.  Brunswick was able to score one more touchdown and the score was 38-8 at the half.

The half time speech could only have been one of encouragement, for when the second half started the Warrior’s were coming together.  We knew Brunswick’s team would be tough for most of the player’s were on the J.V. team that won the Superbowl last year.  So fight to the end they did.  Zach Poffenberger scored in the 3rd  qtr. The extra points kick was blocked. Brunswick was scoreless in the 3rd qtr.  Score 38-14 at the end of the third.  That was strong defense by Allen, Angle,Carlson, Cline, Foster, Halbritter, Holder, Hull, McMillen, Poffenberger, Riley, Rippeon, Ruiz, Tew. Webber, &Violet.

The start of 4th qtr. on a Ruiz pass to Poffenberger  the Warrior’s scored their 3rd touchdown of the night. The kick was blocked score 38-20. Boonsboro’s offense performed well  in the 2nd half and continued to fight on every drive.

Brunswick scored 45-20. The kick was no good.  Then Ruiz had strong 45 yd. run through the middle clearing his way to the end zone for a touchdown. It was a good night for Allen once again his strong kick made it through the uprights. Score 45-28.  Brunswick scored on their next drive 51-28.

Then it was Poffenberger with an incredible 65yd. run to score.  Allen’s great kick attempt was just short. Score 51-34.

Then the last score of the night was Brunswick to close the game out 58-34.  The Warriors definitely fought to the end.  Great effort also shown by Curry on offense, Drawbaugh, and Winkelman.  Even though at the conclusion of the game Boonsboro came up short they should all be proud of their efforts.

Warriors took to the field with runs by #43 Almany, # 27 Waylen Rhoderick and #24 JT Jansson for a gain of 28 yards.  Next were handoffs to #39 Killian Vest and # 71 Noah Minnick but Cougars defense was ready and waiting for the Warriors and didn’t give up any yards.  Warriors continued to march the ball down the field with great runs by #33 Brandon Roberts, #24 Jansson, #43 Almany and #39 Vest, but couldn’t quite get back the Cougars defense to make it to the end zone.

Knowing they had some ground to make up, Warriors came out looking to do just that.  Hand off to #22 Reese Mclean for a gain of 7 yards.  Catoctin was ready and wanted to push the Warriors back, and they did just that with negative yard runs made by #1 Phelps and #22 Mclean.  Warriors didn’t let that get them down, they had awesome runs made by #11 Aiden Saling, #22 Mclean and a great 15 yard run by #34 Trenton Huntsberry.  Next run was a hand off to #18 Zach Taylor which set up a Warriors touchdown run, bringing the score to 35 – 14.  Warrior continued to try to take the ball to the end zone with another run by #47 Gage Suter.  Warriors played a great game on the wet muddy field in Catoctin.

Flag “B” Team:

Warriors’ Defense was ready now.  A pack of Warriors forced the Cougars out of bounds on the 1st play.  #29 Jackson Reed and #8 Trey Cook made 2 terrific tackles.  Very next play #26 Kyle Bradshaw made quick tackle.  #8 Trey Cook plowed through the line and made the tackle in the back field.  The last 2 plays of the game #8 Trey Cook forced the Cougars out of bounds.  Warrior stood their ground the 2nd half.  Go Warriors!

Mini-Pony "A"

In what would be more fittingly called the "Mud Bowl" the Warriors sloshed and trudged their way through a frustrating game against the Catoctin Cougars and suffered their first defeat of the season, 2 TDs to 0. The usually fleet running game of the Mini warriors could not get untracked in the quagmire as the offense could only mount 45 yds total with Cameron Martin accounting for 19 and Ben Burgan 16 respectively. The defense was outstanding and limited the Cougars to only 40 yds, but two TD passes one at teh end of the first half on the last play and one  late in the Cougars 4th series proved to be all they needed to end a winning streak for many of these player that reached 12 over the last two seasons both as B's and now as A's.
Ben Burgan's defensive effort was epic!! Accounting for ten tackles either unassisted or assisted, Burgan seemed to be everywhere. Ryan Nikirk , Jake Feaster and Daemyon Garey had 4 tackles each and Aaron Myers and Alexander Springs added three each. It was disappointing to see the streak end, but you could sense the resolve in the boys after the game, that this would be their last loss of the year...and it was.

This week the 1-4 Warriors travel to Catoctin to face the 2-3 Cougars.  Alex Wetzel is  deservingly this weeks sole captain.  We win the toss and elect to receive.  Leone fields the opening kickoff and returns it as far as the 32 yardline.  First and 10 on our own 32 ydl, Leone picks up 3 to 4 yards per carry over the next four plays and ultimately the first down.  First and 10 on our own 42ydl, after one busted play and a few lost yards, Johnson and Menas rush for four yards a pieces leaving us just short of the first down.  First and 10, Cougar’s ball on our 48 ydl, the Cougars keep the ball on the ground and run primarily off tackle.  Wetzel is credited with two solo tackles at the line of scrimmage and the Cougars are now facing third and 10.  The Cougars start running sweeps to the outside.  Menas, Johnson and Leone team up and make stops on the next two plays but the Cougars are still able to convert.  Now it is first and 10 on the 38.  The Cougars continue to pick up four and five yards at a time all the way down to our 23 ydl.  Johnson and Menas work together making a great stop in the backfield, bringing up second and 12 on the 25ydl.  Here, the Cougars take to the air for the first time on a well executed screen play.  Their tailback catches the ball deep in the backfield, is able to turn the corner, sprint to the sideline and out pace our pursuing defense all the way to the endzone.  Our defensive line prevents the Point After and the score is 6-0 Cougars.

Menas receives the kickoff and returns it 15 yards to mid field..  First and 10 on the 50 ydl.  The offensive line does a great job and Menas picks up 28 yards and two first downs over his next seven carries.  Unfortunately after two back to back busted plays, we end up facing fourth and 14 on their 28 ydl.  We overthrow a well covered receiver and turn the ball over on downs just as the half comes to a close.

We kickoff to the Cougars and they signal fair catch on their own 46.  Reece and Leone both have solo tackles and the Cougars face third and 16.  Their QB drops back to pass and is pursued by Bradshaw and Wetzel.  The pass is deflected by Menas, tipped by Leone and just misses the waiting hands of Dougherty.  This brings up fourth and 16 and the Cougars are forced to punt from their own 40ydl.  We take possession on our 40ydl.  Menas carries the ball nine times for three first downs and a total of 40 yards.  However, at the end of the drive we fumble on third and 9, then get called for holding on the next play and ultimately fail to convert.  First and 10 Cougars ball on their own 28ydl.  Our entire defense ramps it up and the Cougars once again face third and long.  The Cougars sweep to the right, but get
penalized on a holding call of their own.  They try the screen pass but Wetzel and Leone stop them in the backfield.  They are forced to punt on fourth and 15 and we take possession on the 50ydl.  Menas gains us 12 yards over three carries and a defensive encroachment penalty gains us 5 more.  Now it is first and 10 on the 33ydl and Leone and Wetzel both pick up 5 yards a piece for another first down.  Then Leone and Menas take turns for the next five plays and gain 18 more yards.  Now it is first and goal on the 4 and our offensive line continues to punch huge holes in the defense.  On Menas’ second attempt we score. Touchdown Warriors.  Leone takes the hand-off on a fullback dive, but comes up just short of the game winning extra point.  Tie game 6 all.

We attempt an onside kick but the Cougars trap the ball on their own 45.   First and 10 and the Cougars attempt to run the same screen pass to the right.  Their tailback fumbles the ball in the backfield and Bodenheimer sheds his blocker and makes a great heads up play to recover the ball.  First and 10 Warrior on the Cougars’ 40ydl.  We are only able to get off two more plays before the second half comes to an end.

Now it is tied up - six all - and first blood wins .  Cougars win the toss and take first possession.  First and goal on the 10.  Right out of the gate, Menas sets the tone with a powerful stop just behind the line of scrimmage.  Then Leone and Bodenheimer team up to shut the next play down before it can get out of the backfield.  The Cougars fumble the snap on third and 16 and now the ‘D-Train’ is really dancing.  Well sort of dancing.  On their final attempt, the Warriors’ defense gave the Cougars the ol’ 1 - 2 combination, that’s Stewart - Leone, and their day was done.  Ultimately, our entire defense played a very physical and focused game.   And it is that kind of commitment that stopped the Cougars right in their tracks.

Now it was our turn to try to punch it in from the 10ydl.  But unfortunately, our offense was plagued with busted plays, fumbled shot gun snaps and one holding penalty.   The game ended 6 all in overtime.

All of our linemen did a great job and definitely controlled the line of scrimmage on both sides of the ball.  We racked up127 total yards and 15 first downs as compared to their 32yards and 7 first downs.  In fact, in the second half, the Cougars total offensive yards was actually negative16 and that’s not even counting the beat down our defense gave them in overtime.  We played well, never tired and most importantly, we played like a team and should be very proud of our efforts.

It was a damp, cool foggy morning for this year’s Catoctin Mud Bowl.   Every player and fan watched intently as Captains Duft, Hardy, Krenzer and McClure, marched to midfield for the coin toss.  The Cougars fielded Sharpless’ 12 yard kick on its first bounce and returned it as far as their 49ydl.  Their first possession was short lived as Sharpless recovered the Cougars’ fumbled snap on their 2nd down.  Now it’s first and 10 for the Warriors on our own 43ydl.  McClellan, Rogers and Hardy all take turns picking up first downs and we advance the ball well into Cougar territory.  It was first and 10 on the 27ydl when our drive started to fall apart.  A few missed cues, blocks and hand-offs were followed by an incomplete pass attempt on fourth and 13.  The Cougars take possession on their 30 ydl, but Sharpless, Vann, McClellan and Rogers prevent them from gaining as much as inch.  During our next series, Hardy and Rogers take turns gaining and subsequently losing the same 3 yards over and over.  Eventually, we turn the ball back over to the Cougars on their 30 ydl again.  McClure, Rogers and Sharpless had solo tackles or sacks during the next few plays.  But is was Bentley that surprised everyone with the necessary speed to chase down the Cougar running back from their 27 ydl all the way to our 19ydl - thereby preventing their would be touchdown.  The Warriors defense rallied and pushed the Cougars all the way back to the 40ydl before the half came to an end.

Hardy returned the Cougars kickoff 8 yards, setting up first and 10 on the 44 for the Warrior’s offense.  Rogers, Hardy and McClellan advance the ball 16 yards before penalties and an incomplete pass leave us 6 yards short of a second first down.  Moats and Mason only allow the Cougars one play before they combine to force and recover another fumble.  However, our possession is equally short, but at least Rogers smeared the cornerback within three steps of having intercepted his pass.  The Cougars QB takes a beating the next three plays as pairs of Warriors such as McClellan/Summers, Mason/Sharpless and Moats/Sharpless knock the Cougars back nearly 20 yards.  Facing fourth and 28, the Cougars try to punt but the kicker fumbles the snap and we take over on their 20ydl.  We start off really good this series, easily picking up the first down in three plays.  But then penalties and East/West running drive us back to the 38.  Tribett, Hardy and Rogers all have tackles forcing the Cougars to punt on fourth and 14 from their 35ydl.  McClure returns the punt nearly 20 yards to the 25 ydl but it is called back due to another penalty.  On second down from the 46ydl Rogers begins to spin and weave his way to daylight.  He breaks free from two defenders dragging from his jersey before sprinting the remaining 20 yards to the endzone. Touchdown Warriors!  Hardy is just short of earning us the extra point and the score is 6-0 Warriors.

Sharpless kicksoff and Hardy and Mason make the stop at the 50 ydl.  The Cougars’ tailback gets gang tackled in the backfield and has one more taste of the Warriors defense before the clock runs out.

Thanks mostly to our defense, we racked up over 100 yards more than the Cougars.  It would have been nearly 60 yards more, but for all our penalties.  As usual, great blocking, controlling the line of scrimmage and team-play were our greatest strengths.

Final score:  Warriors 6 - Cougars 0.

Congratulations Coaches and Players on another Great Game!

The Walkersville Lions had the misfortune of being on the receiving end of a Warrior team that come off the 'loss reservation' and was now back on the 'victory warpath' as they crushed the usually rugged Lions 4 TDs to 1. The Warriors defense was punishing and the offense was running on all cylinders from start to the final whistle.
Offensively, the combination of Ben Burgan, Jay Sanon, Cameron Martin and Daemyon Garey racked up 143 yds between them while Josh French chipped yet another 15. Their first score came at the end of the first series when Burgan plunged in from the one behind an explosive push from the line. Then on first two plays for the Lions the Boonsboro defense established the tempo for the afternoon as Jake Feaster forced and recovered a fumble on their first play ns then Ryan Nikirk did again on their second. It established a pattern of Warrior line domination that continued the rest of the game.
Our second offensive series featured a 40 yd untouched run for a TD by Jay Sanon on the first play and then a Daemyon Garey burst for five and TD on the last play. The defense continued their impressive play with hits that you could literally  feel in the stands !! Ryan Nikirk had four  tackles during this  Lions' possession, Ben Burgan two,and tackles for losses  were also recorded by Garey, Aaron Myers, Brock Kugler and Alexander Springs.
Jay Sanon then completed the scoring for Boonsboro with 1 yd  TD run that had been setup by a 20 yd scamper by Cameron Martin , a 10 yarder by Daemyon Garey and a 9 yarder by Burgan. The defense put the Lions into their final slumber with a stand that saw the Lions net -26 yds.!!
The defensive effort once again was spearheaded by Ryan Nikirk's 4 sacks, 4 tackles and one fumble recovery along with his partner in the middle Jake Feaster's 2 sacks and fumble recovery. Burgan added his usual stellar effort at linebacker with 4 tackles and Aaron Myers, Jeremy Snow, Alexander Springs and Jay Sanon also added to the Lion smothering. Total yards for Walkersville totaled 20.
The win by the Warriors fully vindicated them from their defeat at Catoctin and served notice to all that this team was not going be denied victory anymore this season.

It was a beautiful day in Boonsboro and the Warriors came to play in the afternoon game.  Dalton Stewart and Colin Reece served as captains after a stellar week of practice.  Walkersville won the toss and deferred to the 2nd Half and Boonsboro took the football.  The offense came on the field and established the run before turning the ball over on downs.  They then dug in and played some great defense and the first quarter ended in a 0-0 tie.  The teams then traded possessions before Walkersville took a punt from the Warriors and broke a couple of QB keepers around the ends to begin marching down the field.  They finally broke a long run and scored from 30 yards out.  The defense played hard but lost contain on this one play.  The conversion failed and the Warriors were back on offense.  Blake Dougherty completed a couple of nice long throws, one to “Hands” Porterfield and another to Brent Leone.  The Warriors had a couple of long gains negated by “questionable” flags that came out after the outcome of the play for either holding or illegal procedure.  The half ended in a 6-0 lead for Walkersville.

The second half was much like the first half and ended up being a great defensive battle wit
